
Nik grew up in Oman and Singapore and began making pictures when he was 16. In 1994 whilst studying for his degree he won the Guardian/NUS Student Photographer of the Year Award.
After graduation Nik worked as a freelance photographer specialising in available light location, portraiture and reportage. In 1996 the National Portrait Gallery in London purchased portraits, including Eddie Izzard, Tariq Ali and Corin Redgrave. Nik has also written articles for The British Journal of Photography, Professional Photographer and The Guardian.
Through his photography Nik attempts to open the viewer's eyes to the strangeness, variety, humour and intensity of the world we pass through each day, looking but perhaps not seeing.
